Randal has many decades of celebrating the lives of trees with his work. In the past he has supplied prestigious clients-Liberty’s of London. John Makepeace Workshops, the National Trust, Harlow Carr gardens in Harrogate, and Temple Newsham in Leeds as examples of a few. Some of these were unique commissions; his bottle stoppers were twice chosen for inclusion in the Queen Mother’s Christmas crackers for her staff.

The Worshipful Company of Turners, one of the oldest guilds, formed in the 12th century maintains a Register of Professional Turners. Randal is proud to be a member for many years. Another accolade that pleases him is the winning of the Ted Mahoney Award for All that is Excellent in the Craft Industry. Coming first in a field of 990 other competitors was a thrilling moment.

The redundant chapel of ease, St. Mary Magdalene, Langthorne is both his home and place of work. The Studio, as he calls the chancel where he does the majority of the work, is a mere step away from the rest of his home. The garden that surrounds the building provides his family seamlessly with beauty, fruit, vegetables, flowers, nuts, and some of the raw material for his work.
