‘Her Letters’ oil on board by Graham Arnold
Graham Arnold was born in London in 1932. His father began teaching him drawing and painting at the age of six. By nine years old he had become obsessed with painting. Guided by his father, he attended Beckenham School of Art. After National Service, he was awarded a place at the Royal College of Art until 1958, where scholarships enabled him to study and paint in Italy for two years.
In 1961 he married the painter Ann Teller. They became founder members of the Brotherhood of Ruralists, a group of seven painters who exhibited together from 1975 until 2007. Graham Arnold’s work has been exhibited in many galleries including Tate, British Museum, The Victoria and Albert Museum, Southampton City Art Gallery and many private galleries throughout Britain. His work has been shown in Germany, Switzerland and Japan. The Museum of Modern Art, Wales, staged retrospective exhibitions of his work in 1990, 1992 and 2002. We feel very honoured to be showing one of Graham’s paintings which is oil on board.
