Jane is a full time artist now living in Cornwall. Her love is for all things vintage, from fabric to toys to china to books. She is constantly influenced and inspired by her eclectic collection that surrounds her at home.
Jane has a great love of antique American Folk Art. She is fascinated by the symbolism and simplicity of the work and the overall naive charm they convey.
She feels her work is a homage to those far off amateur artists maybe with the inclusion of a little contemporary twist and a bit of humour of her own!
Jane paints mainly in acrylics and often encompasses a range of decorative media, including Antique textiles, wood and paper.
In the past Jane has illustrated children’s books and trained as a glass artist, receiving church commissions including restoration work for English Heritage on Shrewsbury Abbey.
The frames on the folk art paintings are all recycled. She searches out antique ones where possible and paints them with a Cornish Milk paint that is very ‘green’.
There is a collection of unframed prints and cards available alongside Jane’s original paintings.
This is Jane’s debut exhibition at Old Chapel Gallery, we hope you all enjoy her work!
