Michelle has a deep love of nature and the countryside; hill walking, rambling, forests, woods, fields, nature, wildlife, birds, trees, landscapes, mountains, the silence of night, listening to nature, the wilderness, stormy skies, sunny climates.
Liverpool born, the youngest out of two siblings living in Yorkshire with her partner, two dogs Sam & Ellie and two cats, Milly & Monty in a canal side cottage in West Yorkshire. After leaving Liverpool Art College studying Graphic Design, Michelle has worked in both publication and re-painting. She has worked in areas such as gifts, jewellery, pottery & magazine covers, producing her work on various Licensed products in the US and England. In 2014 Michelle worked on a series of paintings for the first Tour de France in Yorkshire, which was a huge success allowing her to focus on contemporary pieces of art on the subject of nature and birds.
Michelle primarily works in watercolour and acrylic inks whilst enjoying other media such as acrylic & gouache paint. Her inspiration comes from her surroundings; nature, colour & everyday life, her home & animals are a constant inspiration. Being passionate about birds, nature and wildlife she feels this is portrayed in her paintings.
‘My work is influenced by connecting with the wildness of the countryside and exploring forgotten places on foot.
I take every opportunity to walk and climb the hills with my dogs and I always return inspired to paint the presence found in nature.’
