David was born in Old Hill, the heart of the Black Country in the West Midlands.
He has painted seriously since he was six years of age ( because everyone told him he was good at it! ) but only came to three-dimensional work in his late thirties when he tried his hand at stone and fell in love with the medium.
He lives and works in Herefordshire and his themes reflect a rural life:
Green men, river maids, hares and deer, but with an ongoing passion for the human form and a smattering of angels thrown in for good measure.
Gallery pieces are carved from variety of sandstones and limestones, but for his outdoor work he prefers to use Forest of Dean stone, because of its natural beauty, both wet and dry.
Apart from private garden commissions David has recently designed and constructed a water-feature for the Stonebow unit at Hereford County Hospital.
