Having spent 12 years in London working as a Prop-maker and Model Engineer for the film industry, Archie got the opportunity to go to New Zealand to work on the ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy for two years. He was sent to the Blacksmith’s Shop on the first day and have never looked back! He is based in a converted barn in Shropshire and mainly makes one off commissions for private clients and interior design companies, usually starting with a sketch on the back of an envelope, then CAD drawings, tests and samples, right through to the finished piece. “I have fabricating, carpentry and paint spraying facilities and of course, the forge and power hammer. I also have access to a sculpture studio and plaster shop located next door. For some of my work I have collaborated with Midlands-based aluminium, brass and iron foundries. My catalogue of work demonstrates the range of some of my past projects, from gates to candlesticks”
