Corinna Kenyon-Wade studied Fine Art and History of Art at Edinburgh University, and then worked for 12 years as a conservator of stone and wall paintings, including for the National Trust and British Museum. In 2000, she undertook a Higher National Diploma in Studio Ceramics at the Royal Forest of Dean College. She works from her studio in Knucklas, on the Welsh border.
“I aim to make finely thrown, functional pots in simple shapes, from stoneware and porcelain clays. Currently I am developing a palette of colours using the Chinese celadon glaze as a base, ranging from subtle blue green to vibrant citrus and lilac. Interaction of clay and glaze adds to the character of a pot; while porcelain keeps colours bright, grey stoneware mutes the glaze and flecks it with iron. A pot suggests a glaze and a glaze a pot, and the work quietly evolves.”
